One problem I ran into was the severe screen flickering on core options menu, which was solved after I turned off VSync in video settings. However, compared to Beetle PSX HW, the upscaled graphics with DuckStation core doesn't look as good and seems to have more texture warping. Most importantly, I didn't see any major graphical glitch so far except for some minor flickering polygons occasionally. No matter what ENCODER DITHERING or whatever it's turned on or off SOFTWARE and HARDWARE same thing. In fact, these games run mostly fine even with 6x upscaling except for stuttering at the PSX boot screen. DuckStation has horrible FMVs Been using ePSXe forever and since it's old emulator thinking it lacks features, I've decided to switch to Duck but no matter what settings I use the FMVs have these horrible lines all over them. With D3D11 driver and DuckStation core, all games I tested (Resident Evil 2 & 3, Dino Crisis 2, Vagrant Story, Silent Hill) run at full speed on this machine with 4x upscaling. The only solution I know of is switching to Vulkan driver or a different PSX core. These glitches are also present on my machines with NVIDIA cards if OpenGL driver is used for Beetle PSX HW. However, the biggest problem is some games have major graphical glitches under this setup, like black menu screen in Resident Evil 3 ( ) or rendering problem in Dino Crisis 2 ( ). Many games have some slowdowns at 4x internal resolution, but run pretty well at 2x. Due to its lack of support for Vulkan, the only option on this laptop for hardware-based rendering on Windows in the past was Beetle PSX HW with OpenGL driver. ![]() Of course, I tried to put it to the test with the best looking PS1 game I know, Vagrant Story. Today I saw this core was added to core download and decided to try it on an old Haswell i7 laptop with only Intel HD 4600 on Windows 10. I've recently tried the hot new PS1 emulator, Duckstation, that does a lot of enhancements like Widescreen, dithering removal, perspective correction, and more.
